Dr Mahipal S Sachdev, Chairman & Medical Director of Centre For Sight group of eye hospitals is a renowned Ophthalmic Surgeon who is recognized for his expertise in the areas of Corneal, Refractive & Cataract Surgery, both nationally and internationally. He is widely credited to be a pioneer in India in propagating the technique of Phaco Emulsification for cataract surgery and Lasik Laser for removal of glasses. He has been honored with Padmashri award for his excellence in the field of Medicine by Hon. President of India Dr A P J Abdul Kalam on March 23rd, 2007. Dr. Sachdev pursued his medical education at the graduate and post graduate level at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS). He later joined AIIMS as a Faculty Member. In the year 1989, he completed Fellowship at Georgetown University, Washington DC, USA. Dr Mahipal S. Sachdev has received numerous awards and distinctions in India and abroad for his contribution to Ophthalmology.

In 1996, Dr Mahipal Sachdev stepped out of AIIMS with a dream of creating a world class eye hospital. As an outcome of this dream, today "Centre for Sight" is India's leading eye care network in the country with 45 centers spread across India. Dr Mahipal Sachdev has been active in imparting surgical training to the ophthalmic community. He has conducted several live surgery demonstrations in the remotest locations of India to teach and popularize the technique of sutureless cataract surgery. He was the secretary of the Delhi Ophthalmological Society from 1993 to 1995 and the president for the same society in the year 2006. Under his stewardship the society was transformed from a small local body to an organization of national eminence which influences the practice of Ophthalmology in a major way both in India and abroad. Dr. Mahipal was also the former Chairman of the scientific committee of the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) and former Chairman & Secretary of Intraocular Implant & Refractive Society India(IIRSI). He has also been elected International Member by American Academy of Ophthalmology. In the year 1999 he was inducted to the Summit Autonomous Society USA, which recognizes leading refractive surgeons globally. He is the Indian representative at the Asia Refractive Council and has been active in various international symposia and conferences, where he has conducted courses and presented over 150 papers. He has over 100 published articles to his credit. He has also been the editor of the Delhi Journal of Ophthalmology and Visiscan and was on the editorial board of various journals like the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology, Indian Pediatrics, Ophthalmology World Report etc. He has authored over 5 books in the area of eye surgery including the first book on Phaco by any Indian. These books are today referred to by every budding Ophthalmologist.

Education: MBBS from the Bangalore Medical College (Best Graduate of the Bangalore University; 7 Gold Medals); Post-graduate training in Ophthalmology, followed by fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery at the RP Center for Ophthalmic Sciences, AIIMS, New Delhi (Best Resident award); and Fellowship in Ocular Oncology at the Wills Eye Hospital, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA, USA

Experience: Senior resident at AIIMS (1992-1995), faculty and Head of the Department, and later Associate Director at the LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad (1995-2013); Adjunct Professor at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Ohio State University Dept of Ophthalmology

Interests: Tumors of the ocular surface, eyelid, eye, and orbit, and specifically retinoblastoma; eye plastic surgery and eye prosthesis

Honors: Dr Honavar has extensively published in peer-reviewed journals (over 150 manuscripts) and has written several book chapters. He is on the Advisory Board of the International Council of Ophthalmology, is the Secretary of the Oculoplastic Association of India and the Vice president of the Asia Pacific Society for Ocular Oncology and Pathology. Some of the major awards and honors to his credit include Pfizer National Award & Medallion, Col. Rangachari Gold Medal by the AIOS, Zeigler International Fellowship by the Orbis International, USA, Dr Siva Reddy International Award by the AIOS, Senior Achievement Award by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award by the Govt of India

Dr Rashmin Gandhi, FRCS
(Edinburgh), FRCS (Glasgow) Neuroophthalmology and Cataract Surgery

Education: Dr Gandhi is FRCS from Edinburgh and Glasgow and Neuro-ophthalmology fellowship from the Johns Hopkins University, USA

Experience: Senior Ophthalmologist at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai for 13 years and the Director of the Sankara Nethralaya Academy

Interests: Development of new technologies in Ophthalmology, education and community outreach programs. He is an adjunct faculty at IIT Madras and the clinical director of the IIT-Sankara Nethralaya team which developed thestate-of-the-art mobile eye surgical units. Dr Gandhi has lead a team to organize and conduct outreach programs in Zambia, Kenya and Botswana. Dr Gandhi is a member of the International Council of Ophthalmology's Technology for Education Committee and the Education Committee of All India Ophthalmological Society

Honors: Dr Gandhi has been awarded for Academic excellence by the Honorable Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Narendra Modi at the Silver Jubilee of the Pramukhsewami Medical College. He is also recipient of CV Ananathasayanam Memorial Award from His excellency Shri Rosiah, the Governor of Tamil Nadu. He has also been a recipient of young Super Achiever of Chennai award and award for best Associate Consultant of Sankara Nethralaya
